Laugh Masters Academy

Laugh Masters Academy is “The Home of Improvisation and Sketch Comedy Classes in Sydney & Melbourne Australia”. Along with teaching improv to Australians, LMA leads corporate workshops about the benefits of improv skills in the workplace, runs classes in the Graduate School at University of New South Wales, and hosts weekly shows for improv, standup comedy, and theater.

My place at Laugh Masters Academy was where I was needed. Tasks varied by the week and by the hour. I assisted in content creation and re-organization of extensive existing content, management of various social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn), and SEO for the LMA website. I also welcomed guests at weekly shows at a local pub and made sure the events went smoothly.

• How do I contextualize and excite people about improv and it’s unspoken fame amongst some of the biggest names in the comedy industry?

• How do I make it more approachable and less anxiety inducing?

It’s like anything in life, it takes practice. My goal is to bring to light the many actors and actresses who got their start in acting with improv and/or still practice it today.

With these goals in mind I created 30 pieces of original content to be posted throughout the year. Utilizing Buffer, I scheduled the release of these posts on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram. They will be recycled and posted again next year, as these timeless pieces will carry value far into the future.

The pieces are clear, consumable, and highlight the qualities of improv that draw so many to it. The majority of the posts have A or B level celebrities on them, with the addition of some of improv’s finest leaders and inspirations.

I set up the stage and guest seating area as well as sold tickets at the front door. I also controlled audio some nights and just did the odds and ends to make sure shows ran smoothly and guests were satisfied.
