Water Vessel

Fall 2016

Water takes on the form of whatever contains it. This project explored the different ways people share, store, and consume water. The vessel is a mode of transportation for the liquid. It needs to be simply filled and emptied of its contents. The shape informs the user of its primary affordances and the interaction model.

Final form is blue modeling foam surfaced with layered spackle and gesso.

I explore a form and the interaction with it by producing quick physical models. Drawings frame the concept, and a quick foam model helps guide the direction. More vessels can be found on my Explore page.

I make quick models to get a better idea of the proportions and how the user interacts with the shape.

My goal for this project was to produce a highly crafted model with great attention to detail and finish, culminating in a final vessel with an intuitive interaction and functional pour.
